Based upon rapid and cost effective identification of historical materials and their condition, we appraise each project and object according to their individual requirements and tailor treatments accordingly.

Cleaning Methods

Various decorative and structural stone types, plasters/renders, brickwork, metals, gilded and painted surfaces. Using a range of methods such as ultrasonic descaling, humidification cleaning, solvent and reagent poultices, enzymes, UVL, steam, wet or dry methods, different levels of cleaning are given with respect for surfaces, patination and corrosion products.

Consolidation/Repairs/Coatings & Restoration

Following desalination and cleaning, with or without vacuum pressure, we carry out consolidation using a range of autogenous lime-based methods or orgnaic consolidants, often with diverse corrosion inhibitors and stabilisers to UVL and biological decay mechanisms.

In conjunction with our Masonry Department, certain stones may be replaced with lime-mortar repairs and shelter coats using a range of traditional and modern materials to buffer agaianst weathering cycles or rising moisture problems.

Following analysis, walls can be re-renderred and lime washed/painted in using transparent to opaque systems.
We also re-gild and patinate surfaces

A range of cleaning methods and levels of cleaning for internal and external elevations is possible using different mechanical and organic or mineral poultice treatments.
