ST GEORGE’S BLOOMSBURY
LIONS and UNICORNS
St George’s Bloomsbury was one of 6 new churches designed
by the famous Baroque architect Nicholas Hansksmoor in the mid
18th Century.
Originally, its distinctive stepped spire was decorated with monumental
Lions and Unicorns on each corner, but they were removed in the
late 19th Century. As part of the current major restoration of the
church, Fairhaven of Anglesey Abbey Ltd have been chosen to recreate
these fantastical beasts, which will stand over 10ft high when completed.
